While the origins of this artifact are unknown, it has characteristics unlike many ancient Puerto Rican artifacts. There are speculations as to the origins of this artifact, but it's known that it was once in the possession of Taino woman in the late 19th century. A priest would later dig up these statues to stories and theories that are disputed to this day. This serpentine figure is described as a genuine antique with traces of red and gold decorations. The location of where this serpentine figure could suggest that it was carved by a lost tribe older than the Taino. It was found in a swarm of mountains isolated from many civilization sites in Puerto Rico which supports the theory of early settlers. It is currently disputed as to what kind of writing is on the artifact. Some studies suggest the serpentine figure range between 900 B.C.E. and 900, which is pre-Columbian history.
